about

The 12th Hour is my first feature length film score. It was composed in the beginning of 2014 for a documentary that as far as I know is still in the post-production process. The film details the difficulties faced by those who are trying to rebuild the educational system in Haiti in the aftermath of the terrible earthquake that happened a few years ago.

This score gave me a few unique opportunities beyond the ability to write a full 45 minute score, and draw my themes out over that time. I was asked to score the film BEFORE editing was complete, so I often had nothing but a vague plot outline to work with, and thus my imagination could run wild. I composed several different themes for the film. The primary identity is stated in the first track and I call it the "Hope Theme". It represents the hopes of young Haitian children dreaming for a better life, and better education. It also represents the hopes of those who are working tremendously hard to make a difference in the world.

This theme come up in most of the tracks in this score, but in particular it reaches grandiose heights in "Panier" - a personal favorite track that builds to a fantastic climax.

I hope you enjoy this music as much as I enjoyed composing it!
